The new Enterprise Support Grant launched by the Irish Government on 14 August provides €1,000 to self-employed people to restart their business after Covid 19. With this grant the government is a targeting the many sole traders  like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, hairdressers and taxi drivers, who do not pay commercial rates and therefore do not qualify for the Government’s Restart Grant Plus Scheme.

In order  to qualify for the Enterprise Support Grant you must;

  • have been moved from the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment into self-employment and have closed your claim on or after 18 May.
  • employ less than 10 people
  • not be liable for commercial rates and
  • have an annual turnover of less than €1m

The grant will be paid on the basis of expenditure incurred by an applicant to reopen their business covering their costs up to €1,000.
